Support GCAT and Indiana Swimming by becoming an Official! 

All USA Swimming-sanctioned meets require USA Swimming Officials. GCAT can not host meets without the support of officials. Support GCAT and give back to the team that’s positively impacting your child’s life.

Since all USA Officials are volunteers, you can write off expenses, including your mileage, and hotel cost at a travel meet your child goes to if you work as an Official at that meet. However, we do suggest that you reach out to your tax professional for further guidance. 
 
Becoming a USA Swim Official is a wonderful way to give back to a sport and team that gives our children lifelong skills both in and out of the water. NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF SWIMMING IS NEEDED TO BECOME A SWIMMING OFFICIAL.  You will be trained and equipped with all you need to know!
 

Steps to Become an Official

Complete the required training, which includes:

  • Two online courses

  • A Level 2 Background Check

  • Online Athlete Protection Training

  • Online Concession Protocol Training

  • On-deck training

GCAT will provide club officials with a GCAT Official polo shirt. In addition, GCAT will reimburse for the following items, if requested, after the official has volunteered for four sessions: 
  • USA Swimming Non-Athlete Membership Dues

  • Background Check fee

  • Up to $100 for attire (white shoes, pants/shorts, shirts)
